Many Rivers to Cross...
About Us
The Townsville Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation for Women (TATSICW) was established in 1992, to address issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and families, and provide information and support services for the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
The TATSICW plays an active role in the community, and since inception has managed Elders’ events; cultural activities; youth initiatives; women’s forums; and networking, planning and resource production activities.
In 1993 the TATSICW Townsville became the sponsoring organisation for an Indigenous Home and Community Care (HACC) Program. We now are a fully funded service delivering the HACC program which is now known as the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP). The CHSP program assists Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who need support to continue living at home because they are elderly or have a disability. The services provided under the TATSICW CHSP Program include:
-
Centre-based day care
-
Transport
-
Social support
-
Advocacy
-
Domestic assistance
-
Personal care
-
Home maintenance
